Unit 2 We are in the east of the city
第1课时
一、教学目标
1．能用学过的词语和句型谈论场所的大致方向和位置。
2．能听懂并会用It’s in the north of the city.和There is a school between the... and the... 等句型描述位置。
3．通过让学生描述方位，增加其方向感，培养其生活能力。
二、教学内容
词汇：east, north, next to, beside, west, finally, south, sound, between
句型：It’s in the north of the city.
There is a school between the park and the lake.
三、教学活动
做“方向蹲”游戏。
每次让四个学生到讲台来，每人选择一个方向词作为自己的名字，比如一个叫east的学生边蹲下边说：East is here. East is here and where is west? 叫west的学生必须马上蹲下，并说：West is here. West is here and where is south?以此类推。谁的动作慢或接不上来即被淘汰，由其他学生上来接着做游戏。
四、课前准备
教师课前需要准备录音机、磁带、教学挂图和单词卡片。
五、教学过程
1．Warm-up.
上课时，教师可通过上个单元内容引出本节课的教学内容。比如，教师可说：“同学们，上个单元我们学习了家谱和家族成员的有关词语与句型，那么，如果我们有亲朋好友远道而来看望我们，我们该如何招待他们呢？”除了招待吃喝外，要引导学生说出“外出游玩”，从而自然而然地引出本节课的短语：take somebody around our city, in the east/west/south/north of the city等。
教师接着可以将话题转入本节课文内容：Now, Andy is taking Harry around the city. Where do they want to go? Let’s look at the “Look, listen and act” on Page 9.
2．任务1的教学：
（1）让学生看Look, listen and act的教学内容，记下对话中的人物要去哪些场所，分别提到了哪些方位词。
（2）播放Look, listen and act的录音，先让学生听两遍。在听懂大意的基础上，给学生布置“任务”，比如：Where is the big shopping centre? What is there between
the park and the lake?等，让学生带着问题、带着目的去听录音。
（3）通过多种形式让学生朗读Look, listen and act的内容，比如：跟录音读，跟教师读，角色扮演朗读（根据对话角色，让不同的学生扮演）。
（4）在学生听懂和熟读的基础上，组织学生以小组为单位，进行角色扮演，模仿Look, listen and act的内容进行对话表演。（在学生进行对话表演时，教师可将Look, listen and act内容以图片或多媒体等方式，向学生适当提供情景，以便学生模仿对话时参考。）
① 汉语习惯说“东南西北”，英语则习惯说east, west, north, south或north, south, east, west。也有人说north, east, west, south。
② 比较下面几句话，注意方位词前面的不同介词和含义：
Shanghai is in the east of China. 上海位于中国的东部。（China包括Shanghai）
Japan is (to the) east of China. 日本位于中国的东边。（China不包括Japan）
Korea lies to/on the east of China. 朝鲜位于中国的东边。（Korea与China接壤）
③ Next to the bookshop is a big shopping centre. 是个倒装句，相当于：There is a big shopping centre next to the bookshop.
④ 在英语中，当there be后有and连接的两个或三个单数名词时，其中的be可用单数形式is。课文中的There is a famous park and a small lake beside the shopping centre. 就属于这种情况。
⑤ sound在这里是个系动词，意思是“听起来”，后接形容词。类似这样的系动词还有look (看起来), smell (闻起来), taste (尝起来)等。
3．任务2的教学：
（1）教师出示Listen and say的教学挂图，带领学生朗读between, next to, north, south, east, west这几个单词，或让学生齐声朗读这几个单词。
（2）播放Listen and say的录音，先让学生仔细听，注意录音中所提到单词的读音。
（3）根据Listen and say内容，让学生两人一组，仿照对话范例，就图片的内容进行对话练习（所用句型可以灵活变化）。比如：
Pupil A: This is our school. It’s in the east.
Pupil B: There is a bank between the hotel and the office building.
Pupil C: Next to the bank is a big shop.
（4）让四个学生来讲台做“方向蹲”游戏。每人选择一个方向词（east, west, south, north）作为自己的名字，比如一个叫east的学生边蹲下边说：East is here. East is here and where is west? 叫west的学生必须马上蹲下，并说：West is here. West is here and where is south? 以此类推。谁的动作慢或接不上来即被淘汰，由其他学生上来接着做游戏。
六、教学评析
小学生天性喜欢“玩”。教学中，采取多种教学活动，有意培养学生能根据简单指令做动作、做游戏、做事情。通过“游戏”“玩演”等活动引领学习，有利于学生保持学习英语的兴趣。
